Since Thursday 29 February 2024, the Sarlat market has topped the departmental selection for the "Your most beautiful market" competition. The capital of the Périgord Noir has beaten the competition to the punch. With 28% of the vote, the sous-préfecture came out ahead of Périgueux (16%), Terrasson-Lavilledieu (15%) and Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin-de-Reilhac (13%). From Wednesday 6 to Sunday 31 March 2024, each "elected" departmental market will be able to compete in the regional final.

Two markets will be chosen as winners, one for the former Aquitaine region (Gironde, Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Dordogne, Lot-et-Garonne), the other for the former Poitou-Charentes region (Charente-Maritime).

- Pressignac-Vicq: on the village square, in front of the local village hall, a butter-cream-cheese lorry sets up on Saturday afternoons from 3.30 to 5pm. In addition, on Sunday mornings in summer there is a small local market in front of the local village hall.
- Lalinde: Thursday and Saturday mornings in front of the town hall and on the Place de la République
- Bergerac: Wednesday and Saturday mornings around the Notre-Dame church and in the pedestrian streets
- Sainte-Alvère: Monday morning
- Beaumontois-en-Périgord: Tuesday and Saturday mornings
- Trémolat: Tuesday morning
- Le Bugue: Tuesday and Saturday mornings
- Issigeac: Sunday morning
- Cadouin: Wednesday morning
- Périgueux : every morning, Monday to Sunday from 7 am to 1 pm (2 pm in summer): place and halle du Coderc. Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7 am to 1 pm (1 pm in summer): The market also extends to place de la Clautre, place de l'ancien hôtel de ville and place Saint-Silain. On Friday morning, a small food market takes place on the place de Verdun.
Please note: From Wednesday 6 March 2024 and until the end of July, the market in Périgueux will move from place de la Clautre to place Montaigne due to renovation work.
